Nadia Bibi's Story

Nadia Bibi, a 33-year-old resident of Lahore, has been grappling with a debilitating condition for the past year – excruciating right abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Despite seeking help from local doctors, the temporary relief provided by the medications has done little to alleviate her suffering. Determined to find a lasting solution, Nadia recently visited the OPD at Murshid Hospital, where the attending doctor examined her and recommended a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove her gallbladder.

Nadia’s situation is particularly challenging as she is a homemaker, relying solely on her husband’s meager income as a daily wage earner to support their family of five, including three children. With a monthly income of just PKR 18,000, her husband struggles to cover the essential expenses, including a staggering monthly rent of PKR 8,000, utility bills of PKR 3,000, and school fees of PKR 18,000 for the children. Moreover, the family is burdened with a loan of PKR 50,000, further straining their limited resources.

In a heartbreaking plea, Nadia expressed, “I can no longer bear the excruciating pain that has consumed my life. I feel helpless and alone in this battle, but the only way forward is to undergo the cholecystectomy surgery. With your support, I can reclaim my health and restore the joy and happiness that has eluded me for so long.”

Nadia’s case has been registered with Transparent Hands, a beacon of hope for individuals like her who are facing insurmountable medical challenges. However, the cost of the laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedure remains a daunting obstacle for Nadia and her family. We urgently appeal to the compassionate members of our community to come forward and support Nadia’s journey to a healthier future.

Even a small contribution can make a significant difference in Nadia’s life, granting her the chance to live free from the debilitating pain and reclaim the joy and hope she deserves. Your kindness can be the light at the end of the tunnel for Nadia, transforming her life with good health and the ability to care for her family.

Nadia Bibi's Story

Nadia Bibi, a 33-year-old woman from Karachi, had been experiencing right upper abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and vomiting for a year. She also faced intolerance to fatty meals. She received symptomatic treatment but got temporary relief only. Concerned about her condition, she went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who conducted some lab tests and an ultrasound scan and diagnosed Nadia with Cholelithiasis. To alleviate her pain and discomfort, the doctor advised laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Unfortunately, the surgical cost was beyond her family’s financial reach.

Nadia longed to undergo the surgery, but her financial constraints made it impossible for her to get timely treatment. Nadia lives in a two-room rented house with her husband and three children. Her husband is a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 18000. This income was insufficient to cover the house rent, utility bills as well as educational expenses. Affording to pay for the surgery was out of their reach. With hope in her heart, Nadia contacted Transparent Hands and asked us to register her case. The generosity of our donors enabled us to arrange surgery for Nadia at one of our panel hospitals.

On 31st July 2024, Nadia was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. The surgery took place on the same day. Dr. Khalid Shafiq skillfully performed her cholecystectomy and brought her relief from the persistent pain. Nadia stayed in the hospital for two days and received post-operative care. On 1st August 2024, she was discharged in a satisfactory condition from the hospital.

Nadia Bibi expressed her emotions as follows:

“I prayed day and night for my recovery, but I had no resources to get the treatment. You helped me and gave me light in my darkest hour. I will forever remain grateful for your generosity.”

Through the successful cholecystectomy, Nadia is reclaiming her life. She can now carry out her routine tasks, care for her children, and live her life fully. This surgery was made possible just because of you. Nadia and her family are immensely grateful to you for making a real difference in her life.
