Mishal Aqeel's Story

Meet Mishal Aqeel, a 2-year-old girl from Rajanpur, who hasn’t been able to hear since birth. Responding to her name and hearing the sounds of noisy toys are beyond her capabilities. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a nearby hospital and received medical attention. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss and advised cochlear implant surgery. However, Mishal’s family is unable to pay for the surgery.

If she doesn’t undergo the surgery on time, she might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak. The sooner she receives the cochlear implant, the better her chances of speech and language development which are important at her age. Over time, her inability to hear may isolate her from society and limit her opportunities for an independent future. Early intervention is essential to give Mishal the best chance at a normal life.

Mishal lives in a small house with her parents and two siblings. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a police employee and earns PKR 60,000 per month. This income just covers their household expenses. The cost of Mishal’s much-needed surgery is too high for them to afford. The financial burden has left them feeling helpless and afraid for their daughter’s future. A well-wisher told them about Transparent Hands and Mishal’s family contacted us for help.

Mishal’s parents expressed their plea as follows:

“Mishal is a bright child who lights up our lives with her smile. But she lives in a silent world. We want her to hear our voices, to call us by name, and to live a normal life. We can’t afford her surgery. Please help us give her the chance to hear and speak.”

Your generosity can change Mishal’s life and open the doors to the world of sounds and endless possibilities. Together, we can ensure that Mishal grows up without limitations.

Let’s join hands to bring sounds into Mishal’s world. Your support can change her life forever.

Mishal Aqeel's Story

Mishal Aqeel, a 2-year-old girl from Rajanpur, had never experienced the joy of hearing. She was unable to respond to her name or hear the sounds of toys. Concerned for her future, her parents took her to a nearby hospital for an evaluation. After several tests, the doctor diagnosed Mishal with congenital sensorineural hearing loss and advised cochlear implant surgery to give her the ability to hear. However, the cost of the surgery was far beyond the reach of Mishal’s family.

Mishal lived in a modest home with her parents and two siblings. Her father, the sole provider for the family, worked as a police officer and earned PKR 60,000 per month. This modest income was just enough to cover their basic living expenses, making it impossible for Mishal’s family to afford the life-changing surgery. During this time of need, Mishal’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands. We registered Mishal’s case and assured them that she would receive the much-needed treatment.

On December 24, 2024, Mishal was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Imran Saeed performed her cochlear implant surgery, successfully implanting the internal component. Mishal stayed in the hospital for post-operative care and was discharged the following day in stable condition.

After six weeks, the external component of her implant will be installed. Mishal will also begin attending speech therapy sessions. Mishal’s parents expressed their gratitude with tears of happiness as follows:

“We never imagined our daughter would be able to hear one day. It is like a dream come true. We are forever grateful to you for giving her the chance to hear and speak.”

Today, Mishal is recovering. Mishal’s family is deeply thankful for your kind support that has changed her life. Your generosity and compassion will never be forgotten by Mishal and her family. You have secured her future and enabled her to explore the world of sounds.
