Ishfaq Ahmed's Story

Ishfaq Ahmed, a 57-year-old resident of Lahore, had been struggling with a big tragedy in his life. He is a diabetic patient and he developed a diabetic wound four months ago and his right leg had to be amputated below knee level.

Ishfaq lives with his wife and three children in a small rented house in Lahore. Unfortunately, Ishfaq is presently unemployed since his medical condition prevents him from working and earning a livelihood. This has put a massive strain on the family’s finances, as they struggle to afford basic expenditures such as their monthly rent of 19,500 PKR, electricity bills of 8,000 PKR, and children’s school fees of 5,000 PKR.

Ishfaq’s financial situation is still awful even with the support of his relatives, who have been helping the family fulfill their basic necessities. The family is totally reliant on the kindness of their loved ones because they are unable to pay for Ishfaq’s necessary right below-knee prosthesis.

Ishfaq wants to be able to support his family and take an active role in their life once he regains his mobility and freedom. The family is unable to overcome the financial load of his medical treatment on their own, though, and it has become a serious challenge.

Ishfaq Ahmed said it in a depressed tone:

“I long for the day when I can walk by my children, and provide for my family once again.” Your donations would be like a lifeline, allowing me to start over and regaining my dignity.”

Ishfaq Ahmed contacted Transparent Hands in need of financial support. Your assistance will enable Ishfaq Ahmed to obtain the prosthetic limb he requires, restoring his mobility and enabling him to actively participate in his family’s well-being. Ishfaq Ahmed's Story

Ishfaq Ahmed, a 57-year-old resident of Lahore, faced a significant challenge when diabetes caused a severe wound on his right leg. Despite receiving medical treatment, the wound worsened, and doctors had no choice but to amputate his leg below the knee four months ago. This life-changing event left Ishfaq struggling both emotionally and physically, as he could no longer work to provide for his family. To restore his mobility and independence, Ishfaq’s doctor recommended a right below-knee prosthesis. However, the cost of the prosthetic limb was far beyond what his family could afford.

Ishfaq lived with his wife and three children in a small rented house. The family’s financial struggles worsened after his amputation, as he was left unemployed and dependent on others for his daily needs. His inability to move freely not only caused immense frustration but also deepened his family’s financial hardships. With no source of income and no savings, Ishfaq was left feeling helpless and uncertain about his future. During his time of need, Ishfaq reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Moved by his situation, we registered his case and made arrangements for his prosthesis.

On December 26, 2024, Ishfaq received his right below-knee prosthesis at the Hope Rehabilitation Centre in Lahore. The procedure was performed under the supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz. The prosthetic limb was fitted with care, and Ishfaq was guided on how to use it effectively.

For the first time in months, he was able to stand and walk independently, marking a new beginning in his life. Filled with gratitude, Ishfaq expressed his emotions as follows:

“After losing my leg, I thought I would never be able to walk again. This prosthesis has brought hope and independence back into my life. I am deeply thankful to all the donors who supported me.”

With his prosthetic limb, Ishfaq is now looking forward to reclaiming his life and contributing to his family once again. Your support has given him and his family new hope for a better future.
