Help Erum Find Relief From Cholelithiasis
Erum Mumtaz's Story
Erum Mumtaz, a 31-year-old resident of Karachi, has been enduring excruciating right abdominal pain for the past year. Her daily life has been consumed by discomfort, making even the simplest tasks challenging. Despite seeking treatment from local doctors and taking medications, Erum only experienced temporary relief. Realizing the severity of her condition, she decided to visit a local hospital’s outpatient department (OPD) for further evaluation.
At the hospital, Erum underwent a thorough examination, and the doctor diagnosed her with gallbladder stones. The doctor recommended a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove her gallbladder, as the most effective solution to alleviate her pain.
Erum, a dedicated housewife, is dependent on her husband, who works as a daily wage earner, to support their family. They reside in a very small rented house, comprising just one room, with their two children. Their monthly income barely reaches PKR 30,000, out of which PKR 3,000 goes towards house rent, PKR 2,000 for utility bills, and PKR 1,500 for school fees. With these essential expenses, there is no room for savings, making it impossible for Erum to afford the cost of the required surgery.
Erum finds herself trapped in a difficult situation, desperately seeking a way to overcome her ailment. The burden of financial constraints prevents her from accessing the necessary medical care that could provide her with relief from the persistent pain.
In her quest for assistance, Erum turned to Transparent Hands. Recognizing the urgency of her situation, we registered Erum’s case, aiming to gather support for her laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Without this vital surgery, Erum’s symptoms will only continue to worsen, hindering her ability to lead a fulfilling life.
Erum’s plea echoes with a sense of hopelessness as she says, “I am trapped in a cycle of pain, unable to afford the surgery that could change my life. Please, help me find relief. Your generosity can bring an end to my suffering.”
We appeal to compassionate donors to come forward and support Erum Mumtaz’s laparoscopic cholecystectomy. With your contributions, Erum can regain her health, allowing her to fulfil her responsibilities as a mother and wife. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Erum’s life. Your generosity can help Erum reclaim her happiness and provide her family with a brighter future.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Erum Mumtaz's Story
Erum Mumtaz, a 31-year-old woman from Karachi, had been suffering from pain in her right upper abdomen, accompanied by nausea and vomiting for one year. She also had indigestion, especially for fatty meals. She was receiving symptomatic treatment but the relief was temporary only. After suffering for a while, she decided to receive a consultation from a specialist. After conducting some lab tests and an ultrasound scan, they diagnosed Erum with Cholelithiasis, which refers to the formation of gallstones in the gallbladder. To alleviate her pain and discomfort, the doctor advised laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, the surgical cost was overwhelming for Erum’s family’s financial reach.
Erum lived in a small rented house with her husband and two children. Erum’s husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 30,000 per month. With this meager monthly income, they were already struggling to make ends meet. The burden of medical bills weighed heavily over them as they had no other means to pay for the surgery. That’s when Erum contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Moved by her plea, we registered her case.
On 14th May 2024, Erum was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. The surgery took place on the same day. Dr. Attaullah Roonjho skillfully performed her Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and relieved her pain and discomfort. Erum was hospitalized for three days and received essential care and monitoring. On 16th May 2024, she recovered and was discharged in a stable condition.
Erum shared her emotions as follows:
“I feel extremely happy that the intense pain which I experienced for a long time has gone now. You gave me support when I had nowhere else to turn. I was scared but you helped me get rid of this pain and discomfort. I am thankful for the help I received.”
After the successful operation, Erum began to heal both physically and emotionally. She can now take care of her children and carry out her routine tasks without the continuous fear of pain and discomfort. Erum and her family are immensely grateful to you for helping her.
