Muhammad Adam Khan, a one-year-old resident of Swat, is the only and most beloved child of his parents. Unfortunately, he has been experiencing congenital sensorineural hearing loss, which has left him in a world of silence. His parents noticed his lack of response to their voices when he was around a year old and immediately sought medical help.

They took him to the local hospital, where he underwent tests and was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctors recommended cochlear implant surgery as the best option for Muhammad Adam Khan to regain his hearing and connect with the world around him.

Living in a small house, Muhammad Adam Khan’s father is the sole breadwinner of the family, earning only 20,000 PKR per month. Given their limited financial resources, they are unable to afford the expensive surgical expenses required for the cochlear implant surgery. At just 1 year old, Muhammad faced the challenge of sensorineural hearing loss, a condition that posed barriers in his path to experiencing the beauty of sound. Determined to help him overcome this obstacle, Muhammad’s family sought the expert care of the Institute of Medical Sciences in Gambat.

On the 8th of December 2023, Muhammad was admitted to the hospital, marking the beginning of a life-changing journey. Under the skilled hands of the esteemed surgeon, Dr. Maqbool Ahmed, Muhammad underwent a revolutionary right-sided cochlear implant surgery. The procedure employed an advanced cochlear implant, meticulously designed to restore hearing function in individuals with sensorineural hearing loss.

The surgery proved to be a resounding success, opening the doors to a world of sound for Muhammad. With attentive care and a brief period of recovery, Muhammad’s condition improved significantly. On the 9th of December 2023, filled with gratitude and joy, Muhammad and his family celebrated his discharge from the hospital, embracing a future filled with endless possibilities and newfound auditory delights.

After four weeks, an external component of the cochlear implant was installed, further enhancing Muhammad’s ability to perceive sound.
