Iman Fatima's Story

Iman Fatima, a brave 5-year-old resident of Chiniot, is facing an arduous battle against a debilitating condition that has affected her daily life. She experiences distressing symptoms, including shortness of breath and chest pain, which have caused great concern for her parents. Additionally, her struggle to gain weight has further exacerbated their worries. The condition was discovered when Iman turned 1 year old, prompting her parents to seek medical help.

Iman is dealing with several heart conditions, including Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and Pulmonary Stenosis (PS). Doctors suggest a detailed treatment plan, starting with angiography and then moving to the Rastelli procedure, a type of open-heart surgery. These steps are meant to fix her heart problems, help her heart function better, and improve her health overall.

However, the financial circumstances surrounding Iman’s family have added an overwhelming layer of adversity to their already challenging journey. Iman’s father is the sole breadwinner, working as a daily wage laborer with a monthly income of approximately PKR 25,000. Their living conditions are far from ideal, as they reside in a rented house in Chiniot that costs them PKR 12,000 per month. This rent places additional strain on their limited resources.

Iman’s father is dealing with the daily challenges of managing his household expenses, utility bills amounting to PKR 2,000, and the burden of a loan payable of PKR 70,000. With his limited income, he finds himself in a difficult position, unable to afford the surgical expenses necessary for Iman’s treatment.

Iman’s father expressed his distress, saying:

“Seeing my daughter struggle with a condition that threatens her dreams deeply breaks my heart as a father. Our family feels the heavy burden of her daily challenges. I humbly ask for your generosity and support to assist us through this tough time.”

Iman Fatima's Story

Iman Fatima, a 5-year-old girl from Chiniot, was suffering from frequent episodes of chest pain, breathlessness, and an inability to gain weight since birth. Concerned about their daughter’s health, her parents went to a nearby hospital. After a series of medical tests and evaluations, Iman had a shocking diagnosis - she was suffering from multiple heart defects. The heart conditions included TGA (Transposition of the Great Arteries), VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect), and PS (Pulmonary Stenosis).

The doctor recommended Open-Heart Surgery for Rastelli procedure and VSD closure, as the only solution to save Iman’s life. However, the financial burden of the desired surgery was overwhelming for Iman’s father. His limited income made it impossible for her family to afford the cost of her surgery. Desperate for a solution, Iman’s family reached out to Transparent Hands, Recognizing the urgency of Iman’s situation, we swiftly stepped in to ensure that her vital surgery would become a reality. On 01-05-2024, Iman’s surgery was performed at Ittefaq Hospital Lahore by Dr. Asim Khan. Iman was hospitalized for 9 days and received critical care and essential medications. Iman’s heart is filled with enthusiasm.

Iman’s mother said in a happy tone:

“We are now happy to see our daughter living her life to the fullest. We express our immense gratitude to Transparent Hands and all the compassionate donors who supported us.”

Now, she can look forward to a healthier and happier future, free from her past problems. She can excel in life and live her life with self-confidence and determination.
