Haleema Awaits Treatment for Uterine Fibroids
Haleema Kareem Ullah's Story
Haleema, a 42-year-old woman from Lahore, has been experiencing pelvic pain and heavy menstrual bleeding for several months. Recently, her situation worsened due to severe anemia caused by prolonged blood loss, forcing her to undergo a transfusion of two units of blood. Despite this temporary relief, her symptoms persisted, and her quality of life continued to decline. She went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed an ultrasound scan and some lab tests and diagnosed Haleema with uterine fibroids. These are non-cancerous growths that form in or on the uterus. The recommended treatment is a total abdominal hysterectomy—a surgical procedure to remove her uterus, which will permanently relieve her symptoms and improve her quality of life. However, the cost of this surgery is beyond her family’s financial means.
As a dedicated mother and wife, Haleema struggles to fulfill her daily responsibilities. The delay in her surgery may cause significant risks for Haleema, including recurrent anemia, pelvic infections, and worsening pain.
Haleema lives in a small brick house with her joint family of seven members. Her husband works as a driver, earning just PKR 25,000 per month. With this limited income, they struggle to make ends meet. Their monthly utility bills amounting to PKR 9000, and a staggering loan of PKR 400,000 further stretch their finances to the breaking point. The family is deeply worried about Haleema’s worsening condition, knowing that without the necessary treatment, her condition would become life-threatening. Desperate for help, Haleema turned to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.
Haleema expressed her plea with tearful eyes:
“I’ve already suffered so much, and the blood transfusions were just a temporary fix. I need this surgery to regain my health and strength. I want to be there for my family without this constant pain and fear. Please help me.”
Your generosity can make a world of difference for Haleema. Together, we can help her overcome this challenge, reclaim her health, and live a life free from pain and suffering. Let’s join hands to give her hope and a happy life.
