Gulshan Needs a C-Section to Deliver Her Baby Safely
Gulshan Fatima's Story
Gulshan Fatima, a 27-year-old woman from Khanewal, is eagerly awaiting the birth of her second child. However, as her pregnancy progresses beyond 31 weeks, she faces an overwhelming challenge. Due to her medical history, her gynecologist has strongly advised an elective C-section for a safe delivery. While this news should bring relief, it has only added to her worries. Gulshan and her family are struggling financially, and affording the cost of the surgery is beyond their reach.
If Gulshan does not undergo the required C-section, she and her baby may face serious complications. Given her history of a previous C-section, a normal delivery may cause significant risks including uterine rupture, excessive bleeding, and fetal distress. These complications can put both her life and her baby’s life in danger.
Gulshan is a homemaker, dedicated to taking care of her home and her young daughter. Her husband, a daily wage laborer, earns only PKR 400–500 per day. On days when he finds work, they can afford basic necessities, but on other days, they struggle to put food on the table. With the rising cost of living, making ends meet has become a daily battle. They live in a small house, and every rupee goes towards utility bills, food, and their daughter’s needs. They have no savings or extra income to cover the cost of the surgery.
“All I want is to bring my baby into this world safely. But every day, I worry about what will happen if we can’t afford the surgery. I pray for a miracle so I can hold my healthy baby in my arms.” – Gulshan
