Rahmeen Rahmeen's Story

Rahmeen Azam, a 4-year-old girl from Lahore, has been suffering from an inability to speak since birth. Rahmeen had congenital sensorineural hearing loss which filled her life with challenges. She was unable to interact with her friends and family members. On January 23, 2025, she underwent cochlear implant surgery with the support of Transparent Hands. However, Rahmeen had never heard sounds before. Therefore, she doesn’t know how to differentiate between them. Now, her doctor has advised speech therapy. However, the cost of the treatment is overwhelming for her family.

If Rahmeen does not receive speech therapy, she may struggle to communicate. It will leave her isolated despite the successful cochlear implant surgery. Moreover, she may miss the critical period for speech development, making it difficult for her to interact with the world around her.

Rahmeen’s father is a police employee, earning a modest income to support his wife and four children. The family lives in a rental house in Lahore. Despite his dedication and hard work, his income is barely enough to cover the household expenses. The cost of speech therapy is beyond their means, and they are heartbroken knowing that their daughter’s progress can’t happen without this treatment. During this time of need, Rahmeen’s family contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
