Give Shamim Bibi the Gift of Clear Sight
Shamim Bibi's Story
Shamim Bibi, a 59-year-old widow from Lahore, is suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. After struggling for a while, she consulted a doctor who diagnosed her with cataract in her right eye and recommended cataract surgery to restore her vision.
The cataract has pushed her life into darkness and now she struggles to see clearly. She is unable to do the daily chores and is dependent upon her family. Shamim’s ability to move around has been significantly compromised and she needs assistance for it. Due to the cataract, it has become challenging for her to take care of her children, maintain her home, cook meals, and even tell the time by looking at the clock.
The significant cost of the surgery is overwhelming for Shamim. Her life has already been filled with challenges and hardships. Her husband died a few years ago. Now, she lives in a small mud house with her three daughters. Shamim has no source of income and relies upon her relatives’ financial support. The severity of her visual impairment has become an additional challenge for her, making her disappointed and hopeless. Shamim longs to see her daughters’ faces and wants to regain her clear vision and independence.
Shamim said in despair:
“My life is full of hurdles and challenges. Every day is a struggle for me. I feel like a burden to others as I have lost my independence. Due to my eye condition, I can’t perform basic tasks. I have no source of income and request you to support me. Please help me regain my vision.”

Shamim Bibi's Story
Shamim Bibi, a 59-year-old woman from Lahore, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, she was diagnosed with a cataract in her right eye. To restore her vision, the doctor recommended Phaco+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s financial abilities as they were already facing financial hardships. They have a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home.
Shamim’s life was badly affected by her visual impairment. She used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. She desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, she contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to her concerns, we promptly registered the case. On 29th July 2024, her right Phaco +IOL surgery was performed by Dr. Shaheer at Life Hospital, Lahore. Through the successful cataract surgery, she is now able to experience the beauty of the world around her. She described her happiness as follows: “I never imagined that I would ever be able to see again, but you brought me the light in my darkest time.” The patient’s family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting them and making her surgery possible through Transparent Hands. Your support has brought light back into her life. Not only did you restore her vision but also allowed him to spend her life with independence and dignity. They will never forget your generosity.
