Naeema Aslam's Story
Naeema Aslam, a 40-year-old woman from Lahore, has been suffering from pain in her right knee joint for the past four years. The persistent pain in her right knee has made even simple daily activities unbearable. Initially, she relied on medications for relief, but her condition has only worsened over time. Naeema went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed an X-ray and some lab tests and diagnosed Naeema with Osteoarthritis of the right knee joint. It is a degenerative joint disease, characterized by the breakdown of cartilage and underlying bone. Her doctor recommended right Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond her reach.
Walking and standing for extended periods have become a struggle, leaving her dependent on her family for basic tasks. If Naeema does not undergo the surgery on time, her condition may continue to deteriorate. She may face severe joint deformity, complete loss of mobility, and dependency on others for daily activities.
Naeema lives in a modest house with her husband and three children. Her husband and one of her sons work as daily wage laborers, earning around PKR 50,000 per month. With this limited income, they struggle to cover utility bills, food, and other living expenses. The cost of the surgery is overwhelming and they can’t afford the surgery. The thought of being unable to care for her family fills Naeema’s heart with worry and distress. During this difficult time, Naeema turned to Transparent hands and asked for help.
