Muhammad Iqbal's Story

Meet Muhammad Iqbal, a 64-year-old resident of Lahore, who has been experiencing a cataract in his right eye for a few months. The Cataract has clouded his vision and made it challenging for him to recognize faces from a distance and in a low-light environment. Iqbal’s social life has been affected and he feels isolated and frustrated. Iqbal received a medical consultation from an ophthalmologist, who recommended Phaco + IOL to restore his vision.

Iqbal longs to see the smiles of his family and enjoy the golden years of his life. The cataract has made him dependent on his family for most daily activities. Unfortunately, the Cataract has taken away his independence. His son, the sole breadwinner in his family, works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 25,000. They live in a modest 5-marla brick house. The cost of the surgery is far beyond their means and without it Iqbal’s vision will continue to deteriorate.

Muhammad Iqbal expressed his despair as follows:

“I used to find joy in things like watching the sunset and working on my own. The Cataract has made me dependent on others. I feel like I’m losing my connection to the world. All I want is a clear vision and to experience the beauty of the things around me.”

The thought of spending his remaining years in darkness fills him with fear and grief.

Transparent Hands stepped in to help Iqbal in this time of need. We need your support to restore his sight. Your donation will enable Iqbal to enjoy the golden years of his life and experience the beauty of the things around him.

Muhammad Iqbal's Story

Muhammad Iqbal, a 64-year-old man from Lahore, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, he was diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye. To restore his vision, the doctor recommended Phaco+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond his financial abilities as he was already facing financial hardships. His family has a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home.

Iqbal’s life was badly affected by his visual impairment. He used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. He desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, he contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to his concerns, we promptly registered the case.

His right Phaco + IOL surgery was performed by Dr. Shaheer at Life Hospital, Lahore on 29th July 2024. Iqbal expressed his emotions as follows: “I can perform my tasks again independently, and it feels amazing.”

The patient’s family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting them and making this surgery possible through Transparent Hands. Your support has brought light back into his life. Not only did you restore his vision but also allowed him to spend his life with independence and dignity. They will never forget your generosity.
