Give Asad Ali the Gift of Hearing
Asad Ali's Story
Meet Asad Ali, a 4-year-old innocent boy from Shaheed Benazirabad, Sindh, who has been living in a world of silence since birth. Due to their lack of awareness, his parents noticed his hearing impairment when he was one year old. Upon consultation with an audiologist, Asad was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). It is a condition in which hearing mehanism does not develop in a child. Due to his inability to hear sounds and voices, Asad feels disconnected from the world. The doctor has recommended cochlear implant surgery as the only solution to restore his hearing.
Asad experiences social withdrawal as the condition has also restricted his ability to speak. He is unable to communicate with his friends and family members. His parents want him to undergo the surgery but the cost of the surgery looms heavily over them. Asad lives in a one-room mud house along with three family members. His father is the sole provider for the family. He works as a daily wage laborer and brings in PKR 32,000 per month. With this meager monthly income, it is challenging for them to cover the cost of utility bills and other living expenses.
In this challenging financial situation, the cost of the surgery is beyond their financial means. A ray of hope arose when someone told them about Transparent Hands.
Asad’s parents said in despair:
“It is heartbreaking to see our son struggle to hear us. Due to his hearing impairment, he cannot express his joy and sadness in words. We want to assist him and give him a bright future. Unfortunately, our financial constraints restrict us from doing so. Kindly come forward and support our son in undergoing the life-changing surgery.”
Knowing the impact of a cochlear implant device on his life, we promptly registered his case. However, we need your support to make his surgery possible.
Support Asad Ali and help him live his life to the fullest and enjoy the delightful sounds around him.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Asad Ali's Story
Asad Ali, a 4-year-old boy from Shaheed Benazirabad, Sindh, had been living in a world of silence since birth. His parents noticed his deafness when he was one year old. They took him to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who ran some lab tests and diagnosed Asad with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Asad struggled while playing with kids as he couldn’t understand them. He used to feel isolated from the world around him. According to the doctor, the only way to give him the ability to hear was through cochlear implant surgery.
However, the surgical cost was beyond Asad’s family’s financial capacity.
Asad’s condition was taking a toll on his emotional well-being, leaving him feeling frustrated. Asad’s family was struggling to make ends meet and lived in a small mud house. His father is a daily wage laborer and his insufficient monthly income hardly covers their household expenses. Due to their financial hardships, Asad’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked us to register his case. Through the contribution of donors, we finally arranged the cochlear implant surgery for Asad at one of our panel hospitals.
On 28th July 2024, Asad was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery was scheduled for the following day. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed carefully inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant. Asad was finally recovered and discharged in stable condition on 30th July 2024. The successful surgery gave Asad’s parents new hope and courage.
The external component of the cochlear implant was installed six weeks after the surgery. With regular follow-ups and speech therapy sessions, Asad is improving his communication skills.
Asad Ali’s parents expressed their gratitude as follows:
“We can’t describe our happiness. It’s unbelievable to watch our son hearing and communicating with his friends. We are thankful for changing our son’s life.”
Asad can now excel in life without any difficulties that he once had with his hearing impairment. Today, he is on his way to a bright future. He can now play, grow, and thrive in life like other kids of his age. Asad’s parents are extending their deep gratitude to you for helping them.
