Fill Rahmeen Fatima’s Silent World With Sounds
Rahmeen Fatima's Story
Meet Rahmeen Fatima, a one-year-old girl from Sukkur, who can’t hear. Her world is a quiet one, and it breaks her parents’ hearts to see her struggle to connect with the world around her. Responding to her name and listening to the sounds of toys are beyond her abilities. Her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a thorough examination and evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). To unlock the world of sounds, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery for Rahmeen. Unfortunately, the significant cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s financial reach.
If Rahmeen doesn’t get the timely cochlear implant surgery, she might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak. The earlier she receives the cochlear implant, the better her chances of developing the language skills that are so important at her age.
Rahmeen lives in a small brick house with her parents. Her father, the sole provider for the family, is a government employee and brings in PKR 50,000 per month. This income is insufficient to cover the household bills, groceries, and other living expenses. Her family’s financial situation is stretched thin and they can’t afford to pay for her much-needed surgery. That’s when they found Transparent Hands, contacted us, and asked us for help.
Rahmeen’s parents said with teary eyes:
“Rahmeen is our only child and we just want to give her a happy future. We dream of the day she can have a normal chance at life, hear our voices, and experience the world around her. It can only be possible with your support as we don’t have enough money to pay for this costly surgery. Please help our daughter.”
Delaying her surgery means causing a significant delay in her cognitive and developmental milestones. This surgery is a doorway to a whole new world of opportunities for her.
Together, we can gift her the ability to come out of her silent world. Come forward and donate for her cochlear implant surgery.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Rahmeen Fatima's Story
Rahmeen Fatima, a 3-year-old girl from Sukkur, had lived in a silent world since birth. Responding to her name and listening to the sounds of toys that make noise was beyond her abilities. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a local hospital and received a consultation from a doctor. After a comprehensive examination, the doctor diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss and recommended cochlear implant surgery. This diagnosis was shocking for her parents, as they didn’t have enough money to pay for Rahmeen’s surgery.
Rahmeen lived in a small brick house with her parents. Her father, the sole provider for the family, was a government employee. His meager monthly income was insufficient to cover even their basic living expenses. Rahmeen’s family faced financial limitations that made the surgery feel like an impossible dream. With no savings or other resources, they feared Rahmeen would grow up in silence, unable to experience the sounds in the world around her. During this difficult time, Rahmeen’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to their concerns, we promptly registered her case.
On 3rd October 2024, Rahmeen was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery took place on 4th October 2024. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant, bringing a wave of joy to Rahmeen’s family. She was hospitalized for two days and received post-operative care. On 5th October 2024, she was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.
The external component of the cochlear implant was installed six weeks after the surgery. Rahmeen now receives speech therapy sessions. This is how she can learn to distinguish between sounds and words and fully learn language skills. Rahmeen’s parents expressed their heartfelt thanks as follows:
“We will forever be grateful to those who made this possible. You’ve given our daughter a gift that we could never have afforded on our own. Thank you for allowing her to hear us and explore new opportunities.”
Your generosity has changed Rahmeen’s life and brought boundless happiness to his family. Her family is truly grateful.
