Faruq Awaits Open-Heart Surgery
Faruq Masih's Story
Faruq Masih, a 40-year-old resident of Lahore, has been grappling with shortness of breath and chest pain for a year. Concerned about his worsening condition, he sought medical assistance, and after a series of diagnostic tests and evaluations, a devastating diagnosis was revealed. Faruq was diagnosed with VSD-DSA (Doubly committed subarterial Ventricular Septal Defect), Right Coronary Cusp), and a ruptured sinus into RVOT (Right Ventricular Outflow Tract). The gravity of his condition necessitated urgent open-heart surgery for VSD closure and AV valve replacement.
Faruq is working as a security guard, earning a limited monthly income of PKR 20,000. Residing in a rented 3-marla house in Lahore with his wife and two children, Faruq is responsible for providing for his family. However, his income must stretch to cover various expenses, including a house rent of PKR 4,000, bills of PKR 3,000, and other necessary expenditures. The weight of these financial obligations, combined with the burden of his deteriorating health, leaves Faruq in a state of deep distress. The cost of the necessary surgery remains far beyond his means, exacerbating his worries.
Faruq said it in despair:
“I want nothing more than to live without the constant pain caused by my heart condition. As the sole breadwinner for my family, the financial burden is overwhelming. I humbly ask for your help in affording the surgery I urgently need. With your support, I can have a second chance at life and provide a brighter future for my family.”
In his search for a lifeline, Faruq contacted Transparent Hands, submitting his documents in the hopes of registering his case. Faruq dreams of a healthier future, free from the limitations of his heart condition. Your support can turn this dream into reality. We kindly ask for your compassion and generosity to contribute to his surgical expenses. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and help Faruq on his journey to better health.

Faruq Masih's Story
Faruq Masih, a 40-year-old man from Lahore, was suffering from breathlessness and chest pain for one year. Tasks that once seemed routine became nearly impossible as he found himself growing weaker and more tired with each passing day. Moreover, he suffered from repeated chest infections, and even mild activity gave him extreme fatigue. He consulted a doctor about his deteriorating health condition, who, after running some medical tests, diagnosed him with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Double-Chambered Right Ventricle (DCSA), and Prolapsed Right Coronary Cusp (RCC). In simple terms, there were serious defects in his heart that needed to be corrected urgently. The doctor recommended an Open Heart Surgery (VSD repair with Aortic Valve Replacement-AVR) to save his life. The news was overwhelming, as his condition worsened and he didn’t have money to pay for the costly surgery. Faruq lives in a modest rented house with his wife and two children. He is a security guard and earns PKR 20,000 monthly. His in-laws and relatives help him to fulfill basic needs. With his insufficient monthly income, he hardly manages the cost of house rent, utility bills, and other living expenses. The expensive surgery was far beyond his financial reach. During this time of need, Faruq contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Moved by his plea, we took up his case. On June 25, 2024, Faruq was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital Lahore. The following day, June 26, 2024, Dr. Asim Khan, an experienced surgeon, performed his life-saving Open Heart Surgery (VSD repair with AVR). The surgery was a success, and Dr. Asim skillfully fixed the defects in Faruq’s heart. After the procedure, Faruq was closely monitored in the hospital’s intensive care unit, and his condition steadily improved. On July 1, 2024, Faruq was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition. Faruq said with tears in his eyes: "Before the surgery, every night was restless, and I felt so drained. The pain has subsided, and I can finally breathe. As I heal, I carry your kindness in my heart. Thank you for giving me hope and a bright future.” Faruq’s heart was healed just because of you and the support of the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation. The severe pain and discomfort that once dominated his life have vanished and he is now on his way to reclaim his life. Faruq’s family is immensely grateful for your support in bringing this life-changing difference.
