Saad Bilal's Story
Saad Bilal, a 1-year-old boy from Muzaffargarh, has been living a life full of struggles since birth. His tiny body battles with shortness of breath and chest discomfort every day. His skin and lips often turn blue and any mild to moderate physical activity leaves him gasping for air. His parents took him to a local hospital where Saad’s condition was finally diagnosed. After running some medical tests, the doctor revealed that he has Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a congenital heart defect involving four critical abnormalities that prevent blood flow in the heart. The doctor has recommended open-heart surgery for total correction, but the financial burden is beyond what Saad’s family can bear.
Without this life-saving surgery, Saad’s condition will worsen, leading to complications such as heart failure or irregular heart rhythms. Saad’s parents are desperately trying to hold on to hope, knowing that time is running out for their son.
Saad lives in a modest home with his parents. His father is the family’s sole provider. He has a visual impairment which limits his ability to work and he earns just PKR 20,000 per month as a laborer. This meager income barely covers their basic needs. The family is living in poverty and they barely cover utility bills, food as well as other living expenses. Affording to pay for Saad’s life-changing surgery is impossible for them. During this time of need, Saad’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Saad’s parents said with tear-filled eyes:
“Saad is our only child and we don’t want to lose him. He needs open-heart surgery to survive, but we have no way to afford it. Every day is a struggle, and we feel helpless. We request your help to save his life.”
