Ensure Abdullah’s Survival with Heart Surgery

Muhammad Abdullah, an 18-year-old resident of Lahore, has been experiencing breathlessness, chest discomfort, and fatigue since birth. He becomes tired easily, affecting his ability to engage in physical activities with peers. Abdullah underwent the Rastelli procedure for TGA, VSD, and PS earlier. Unfortunately, even after the surgery, his condition didn’t settle down and he experienced the debilitating symptoms once again. His parents took him to a local hospital where a doctor ran some medical tests and diagnosed Abdullah with severe Conduit Stenosis. This condition is a significant complication that can occur after Fontan palliation, where a synthetic conduit narrows and limits blood flow. To heal Abdullah’s heart, the doctor recommended redo open-heart surgery. Unfortunately, the financial strain of the surgery is beyond Abdullah’s family’s financial reach.

If he doesn’t undergo the surgery soon, his heart condition will continue to worsen and become life-threatening. He will not be able to beat the disease and may lose his life.

Abdullah lives in a small brick house with his six family members. He has four siblings, who are young and studying. His father passed away a few years ago. Abdullah’s family manages their living expenses on their father’s pension which is PKR 50,000 per month. With this insufficient amount, managing the utility bills adding up to PKR 8000, educational expenses, as well as grocery expenses is significantly challenging for the family. They have no insurance and no savings at all to pay for the costly surgery. In such a challenging time, Abdullah’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help. His mother said with teary eyes:

“It’s hard to find words for the struggle my son is facing. He longs for relief and a return to normal life. I don’t have enough money to pay for his surgery.  Abdullah’s life has become miserable, and I can’t watch him struggle to survive each day of his life. Your support is my only hope. Kindly save my son’s life.”

After undergoing the surgery, Abdullah’s heart can function more efficiently. Consequently, he can engage fully in daily activities and lead a normal and healthy life.
