Saba Afaaq's Story

Saba, a 19-year-old woman from Karachi, is in the 34th week of her pregnancy with her first child. With her pregnancy approaching its end, her heart is filled with worries. Saba went to a local hospital and consulted a gynecologist. Her doctor performed an ultrasound scan and found that her fetus had a breech presentation. It occurs when a fetus is positioned with the buttocks or feet downward instead of the head.  To avoid potential complications, her doctor advised C-section. Unfortunately, the cost of the C-section is overwhelming for her family.

Without a C-section, both Saba and her baby face may face significant risks, including obstructed labor or uterine rupture. Delaying or avoiding the C-section may result in life-threatening situations for both mother and child.

Saba lives in a small rented house with her husband. Saba’s husband, the sole provider for the family, is a daily wage laborer and makes just PKR 18000 per month. With this meager monthly income, they barely manage to cover house rent of PKR 4000 and utility bills of PKR 1000 per month. Saba and her family experience financial constraints, making it impossible for them to afford the surgery. Given their challenging financial situation, Saba and her husband worry about the consequences of their first child’s delivery. During this difficult time, Saba’s husband contacted Transparent Hands and asked us to register Saba’s case.

Saba’s husband expressed his heartfelt plea as follows:

“I work to the point of exhaustion but my income is barely enough to even fulfill our basic needs. I just want to hold my baby in my arms but I can’t afford the surgery. Please, help us bring our child safely into this world.”

We have registered Saba’s case and seek your support to bring happiness into her home. Your support can turn her worry into relief and helplessness into new hope.

Stand by Saba during this challenging time and help her experience the joy of welcoming her newborn baby.
