Enable Muhammad Abdullah to Hear Sounds
Muhammad Abdullah's Story
Muhammad Abdullah, an innocent 1-year-old little boy from Faisalabad, has been suffering from deafness since birth. Most toddlers begin to speak and explore the world through sounds, but Abdullah remains silent, unable to experience his surroundings fully. Upon noticing his unresponsiveness to sounds, his parents took him to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. The doctor conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Abdullah with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. (SNHL).To give Abdullah a chance at a normal life, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. However, his family cannot afford the costly surgical procedure.
If Abdullah doesn’t undergo the surgery on time, he might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak. The earlier he receives the implant, the better his chances of developing the language skills that are so important at his age. As Abdullah grows, the gap between him and other children of his age widens. His parents are heartbroken, knowing that without intervention, their little son’s development will be severely impacted.
Abdullah lives in a small two-room rented house with his four family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a private-sector employee and earns PKR 60,000 monthly. The entire family relies upon him for living expenses. With a monthly house rent of PKR 15000, utility bills of PKR 3000, in addition to educational and grocery expenses, the cost of the surgery is out of the financial capacity of Abdullah’s family. With hopes in their hearts, Abdullah reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Abdullah’s parents said in despair:
“We just want Abdullah to hear us and respond like other children. It breaks our hearts to see him struggling in silence, but we don’t have enough money to pay for the surgery. Kindly help our son to have a chance at a normal life.”
Through this life-altering procedure, Abdullah will be able to hear his parents’ voices, learn to speak, and experience the world in ways he never has before.

Muhammad Abdullah's Story
Muhammad Abdullah, a 1-year-old boy from Faisalabad, had been living in a silent world since birth. His parents noticed his unresponsiveness to sounds when he didn’t react to loud noises. They took him to a nearby hospital and received a consultation. After performing a thorough examination and evaluation, the doctor diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. His doctor advised cochlear implant surgery and emphasized that without a cochlear implant, Abdullah’s ability to hear and speak would be severely impacted. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond his family’s financial capacity.
Abdullah lives in a modest rented house with his four family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, was a private-sector employee and earned just enough to support the family’s basic needs. The cost of cochlear implant surgery was beyond their financial capacity. During this time of need, Abdullah’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Moved by their plea, we took immediate action and registered his case.
On 29th August 2024, Abdullah was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery was scheduled for the following day. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed skillfully inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant. After receiving post-operative care and critical monitoring, Abdullah was discharged in satisfactory condition on 31st August 2024.
Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. Abdullah now attends speech therapy sessions which will enable him to learn language and communication skills. His parents are overjoyed, watching him respond to voices and begin learning new words.
In his parents’ words: “We can’t describe how much this means to us. Abdullah’s world is filled with sounds now, and it’s because of the generous support we received. We are forever thankful to those who made this miracle possible.”
Abdullah has come out of his silent world just because of your support. His family thanks you from the bottom of their hearts for giving Abdullah the chance to hear, learn, and thrive.
