Enable Bakhtawar to See the World Clearly
Bibi Bakhtawar's Story
Bibi Bakhtawar, a 17-year-old girl from Loralai, Baluchistan, is struggling with blurry and dim vision. Her condition has worsened over time, making even the simplest tasks challenging. Her eyes often close involuntarily, leaving her in darkness. She is unable to see her parents’ faces or help her mother with household chores. After a visit to the local hospital, Bakhtawar was diagnosed with a cataract in her left eye. The doctor advised left Phaco + IOL surgery that would enable her to see clearly. However, the cost of the surgery is out of her financial capacity.
If Bakhtawar does not undergo surgery soon, her vision may deteriorate further. It will ultimately increase the risk of blindness. Bakhtawar is already struggling with her weak eyesight, and now the fear of losing her ability to see scares her.
Bakhtawar lives in a small house with her joint family of 13 members. Her father, a welder, earns just PKR 16,000 per month. He is the only breadwinner, supporting not only his children but also other family members. Their home lacks even basic necessities like electricity, and every rupee he earns goes towards feeding the family. With so many responsibilities, affording Bakhtawar’s surgery is simply impossible for him. The weight of her suffering rests heavily on his heart, but he feels helpless. During this time of need, Bakhtawar’s family contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Bakhtawar’s father said in despair:
“It breaks my heart to see my daughter struggle every day. She is young, but she is unable to see clearly. I wish I could afford her surgery, but I barely manage to provide food for my family. Please help my daughter in undergoing the surgery.”
Bakhtawar’s world is getting dark, but you have the power to brighten her life. With your generous support, she can undergo the necessary surgery and regain her sight. Every contribution brings her closer to a life where she can see, dream, and thrive.
