Empower Shehnaz to Overcome Uterine Fibroids
Shehnaz Amjad's Story
Meet Shehnaz Amjad, a 45-year-old woman from Lahore, who has been suffering from irregular and heavy menstrual bleeding for the last four months. Since then, her life has become challenging, making it difficult for her to manage her household and care for her children. Shehnaz went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who ran some lab tests as well as an ultrasound scan and diagnosed Shehnaz with Uterine fibroids. These are common benign tumors composed of smooth muscle and fibrous tissue that develop in the uterus. To treat this issue, the doctor advised Total Abdominal Hysterectomy (TAH) with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy (BSO). However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for Shehnaz’s family.
The weakness and body aches drain Shehnaz both emotionally and physically. If her condition is left untreated, she may continue to experience ongoing symptoms like heavy bleeding and pelvic pain. The fibroids can grow and may develop into cancer. Moreover, there may be other risks of complications such as anemia.
Shehnaz lives in a two-room house with her husband and two school-going children. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a daily wage laborer and brings in just PKR 30,000 per month. With this meager monthly income, it’s significantly challenging for him to pay PKR 2000 in utility bills and PKR 6000 for educational expenses. Due to their financial hardships, they can’t afford to pay for the costly surgery. With each passing day, Shehanz’s heart is filled with worries. During this challenging time, Shehnaz contacted Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.
Shehnaz said in despair:
“This pain affects my daily life, leaving me exhausted and struggling to keep up with simple tasks. I long for relief and a chance to live without constant worry. Please help me in undergoing the surgery so I can regain my strength once again.”
Shehnaz is counting on your kindness. By supporting her surgery, you can change her life and empower her to be an active mother and wife. We urge you to be a source of hope during her time of need.
