Empower Nisha with C-Section for a Safe Delivery
Nisha Hassan's Story
Nisha Hassan, a 25-year-old woman from Karachi, is pregnant with her first child. Nisha’s heart is filled with joy and anxiety simultaneously. As a first-time mother, every moment is new and emotional for her. However, what should be a beautiful and hopeful time in her life has become a source of deep concern. During a recent visit to a nearby hospital, Nisha’s doctor informed her that her baby was in a breech position. It occurs when a baby is positioned feet-first in the uterus instead of head-first. Her doctor has strongly advised her to undergo a C-section for safe childbirth. However, the cost of the C-section is overwhelming for Nisha’s family.
Without a C-section, both Nisha and her unborn baby are at risk of serious complications during delivery. A normal delivery may cause significant risks including uterine rupture, excessive bleeding, and fetal distress.
Nisha’s husband works as a tailor in a private company, earning a modest income of just PKR 32,000 per month. They live in a small rented house, paying PKR 12,000 for house rent and PKR 5000 for utility bills every month. With rising inflation and basic necessities consuming most of their income, there is nothing left for medical expenses. On top of this, the couple is already burdened with a loan of PKR 200,000, which adds to their daily stress. Nisha said in despair:
“This is my first baby, and I want to welcome my child into this world safely. But the fear of not being able to afford the C-section keeps me up at night. My husband tries everything, but it’s just too much. We are in desperate need of help. I dream of holding my baby in my arms.”
