Kausar Bibi's Story

Kausar Bibi, a resilient 42-year-old resident of Sheikhupura, whose life took a devastating turn when her right leg and right arm were crushed in a tragic accident. To save her life, both her arm and leg had to be amputated after taking her to the hospital. Now, Kausar desperately needs a right above-knee prosthesis for her leg and a right above-elbow prosthesis limbs for her arm. However, her financial situation poses a significant obstacle.

She lives in a small house with her husband and five children in Sheikhupura.  As a dedicated housewife, Kausar relies on her husband, who works as a gardener, to provide for their family. With a monthly income of approximately 25,000 PKR, their financial resources are stretched thin.  The financial crisis faced by Kausar and her family further burdens them with utility bills amounting to 4,000 PKR, school fees of 2,000 PKR, and the daily expenses of providing for their five children.

Helpless and filled with a sense of loss, Kausar finds herself lacking self-confidence and hope. The cost of artificial limbs is simply beyond their means. The absence of her limbs has made it incredibly challenging for Kausar to perform even the simplest household chores.

In this vulnerable state, she said in despair:

“Please help me regain my independence and provide for my family by supporting my journey to obtain the artificial limbs I desperately need after losing my arm and leg in a tragic accident.”

Transparent Hands has become a lifeline for Kausar to regain her independence and restore her sense of dignity. Together, we can make a difference in Kausar’s life, enabling her to care for her family and face the future with renewed strength and determination. Let us be the guiding light that brings hope and joy back into Kausar’s life, empowering her to overcome adversity and embrace a brighter tomorrow

Kausar Bibi's Story

Kausar Bibi, a 42-year-old woman from Sheikhupura, had a road accident which changed her life. Her family took her to a nearby hospital, where the doctor performed a comprehensive examination and found crush injuries on her right leg and arm. Her condition led the doctor to amputate both her right arm above the elbow as well as her right leg above the knee. Since then, Kausar had been facing a lot of challenges in her life, being unable to carry out her routine tasks. She couldn’t take care of her children, cook meals, and maintain her home. Her doctor advised a right above-elbow prosthesis and an above-knee prosthesis. However, Kausar’s family can’t afford the costly artificial limbs.

Kausar lived in a small house with her husband and five children. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, works hard as a daily wage laborer and makes just PKR 25000 per month. With five children to support, managing the household expenses was already significantly challenging. They couldn’t afford to pay for the artificial limbs due to their ongoing financial hardships. During this time of need, Kausar reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance. Moved by her plea, we registered her case.

On 22nd July 2024, Kausar’s right above-elbow prosthesis and above-knee prosthesis were fitted at Hope Rehabilitation Centre in Lahore. It was done under the supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz, giving Kausar a new lease on life.

Kasur said with tears of joy in her eyes:

“I can’t tell you how happy I am. I thought I would have to live with this disability forever. But your support came at the perfect time and changed my life. Words would be less to express my pleasure. From the bottom of my heart, I am thankful to you.”

Now, Kausar can walk with confidence, care for her children, and even cook meals for her family once again. Kausar and her family are immensely grateful to you for rebuilding her life and restoring her role as a loving mother and wife.
