Empower Deserving Breast Cancer Patients in Pakistan

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in most countries around the world. In Pakistan, 1 out of every 9 women is likely to be affected by breast cancer. Since thousands are unable to access life-saving treatments for breast cancer due to financial constraints, Transparent Hands has launched multiple initiatives to support them. 

Challenges Faced by Breast Cancer Patients in Pakistan

According to a WHO report, approximately 90,000 new breast cancer cases are diagnosed each year in Pakistan, with 40,000 fatalities attributed to late detection.

The situation is made worse by the fact that women from rural and low-income areas lack access to essential healthcare facilities and services. In urban areas, public hospitals are often overburdened and the private ones are beyond the reach of the poor and needy. 

If these women don’t receive treatment soon, their cancer can spread. It can even spread to other parts of the body and it may significantly increase the risk of death.

• Financial Burden: The cost of breast cancer treatments like surgery and chemotherapy is overwhelming for most women in Pakistan, especially those from low-income families.

• Lack of Awareness: In rural and underserved areas, breast cancer awareness is significantly low. Women are often diagnosed at advanced stages due to this reason.

• Social Stigma: Cultural taboos around discussing women’s health can prevent early detection and treatment. 

• Limited Access to Healthcare: Due to inadequate health facilities in remote areas, many women are left with few or no options.

Transparent Hands’ Solution

Transparent Hands is bridging these gaps by providing free breast cancer surgeries, chemotherapy, and other treatments to those who cannot afford them. 

We have been ensuring the survival of breast cancer patients across Pakistan since 2014. Currently, we’re raising funds to support the treatment of 10 needy women who are suffering due to breast cancer. Out of these, 6 will undergo breast cancer surgeries (mastectomy) and 4 will receive chemotherapy. These breast cancer patients will receive quality medical and surgical care before and after the procedure. They will be treated at some of the best private hospitals which are on our panel. We aim to help them as soon as possible.

Cost

Under this initiative, 6 breast cancer patients will undergo surgeries (Mastectomy) and 4 will receive Chemotherapy. 

Cost of 1 Mastectomy = $ 725.55

Cost of 6 Mastectomy = $ 4353.347

Cost of chemotherapy for 1 patient = $ 906.92

Cost of chemotherapy for 4 patients = $ 3627.68

Total cost = $ 7981.11
