Abida Bano's Story

At 70 years old, Abida Bano from Karachi is facing one of the toughest challenges of her life. Five months ago, she suffered from pain due to a lump in her right breast. Since then, her health has been steadily declining. Simple activities that once brought her joy, now seem impossible due to fatigue and discomfort. Abida went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who ran some medical tests and diagnosed her with right-sided breast cancer. After assessing her condition, the doctor advised her to undergo a Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM) to prevent the disease from worsening. However, the cost of the procedure is far beyond her financial means. 

If Abida does not receive timely surgical intervention, her condition may deteriorate further. The cancer may spread to other parts of her body, leading to severe complications and a drastic decline in her quality of life. Without treatment, the battle against cancer will become even harder, putting her life at significant risk.

Abida is a widowed woman who lives in a small flat with her only son. Her son is the sole provider for their family. He works at a private company and earns a modest monthly income. Due to this, it’s extremely hard for them to manage utility bills, food, and other living expenses. Their financial situation is stretched thin and they simply can’t afford to pay for the surgery. During this challenging time, Abida turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
