Zarina Bibi lives in a small house in Khanewal with her 6 children (5 sons and 1 daughter). Her two sons are married while other children are studying in local college. Zarina’s husband died around 7 years ago. Since then, she is relying on her elder son who is the only earning member of the family. Her son gives home tuitions and hardly manages to earn around 10,000 rupees a month. In such meager income, he has to take care of all the family members including his wife and kids.

Around 7 years ago, Zarina Bibi was diagnosed with Adenomyosis – a condition in which the inner lining of the uterus (the endometrium) breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus (the myometrium). She took various medicines but they could only provide partial relief for some time. Doctor recommended her to undergo hysterectomy for permanent relief. Zarina Bibi doesn’t have enough money to pay for her surgical expenses. Her health is deteriorating with each passing day. She experiences painful symptoms including menstrual cramps, lower abdominal pressure, and bloating before menstrual periods that results in heavy blood loss. During her menstrual periods, she is unable to get up and perform her household chores. Her family approached a few local hospitals but they refused to register her for free surgical treatment due to long waiting list. Zarina Bibi's Story

Zarina Bibi 46 years old lady had heavy menstrual bleeding and lower abdominal pain for many years. She was diagnosed to have adenomyosis and was advised hysterectomy as the final solution for her disease. Her surgery was done in Abid Hospital, Mian Channu on 27-08-18 by Dr. Sadaf Aqeel. Her uterus was removed and she stayed for 2 days after surgery. She had good post-operative recovery and was discharged in perfect condition.
