Donate to Zainab Amjad for Her Cochlear Implant
Zainab Amjad's Story
Zainab Amjad, 5 years old, started experiencing sensorineural hearing loss at birth but her condition was not diagnosed before the age of 1.5 years by which time, the hearing loss had become extensive. When she was diagnosed, her parents arranged for a hearing aid but it unfortunately did not work on her. Her doctor has now advised her parents to arrange for a cochlear implant.
Zainab’s father used to hold a fairly well-paying job in a private company before the devastation of the coronavirus outbreak struck. He was let go from the company when it started downsizing after the outbreak. Now, he does odd jobs online and earns around 20,000 PKR/month. He has 2 children to feed, bills to pay, and also has to give 10,000 PKR each month as rent for the small apartment his family occupies in Rawalpindi.
“We have been going through a really hard time these past few months. My daughter was in the process of getting treated when the economy started shutting down. I am helpless now and all I can hope is that those who are still afloat in this crashing economy can send her help. I am using this platform to get to them and I pray that they respond.” – Zainab’s father

Zainab Amjad's Story
Zainab Amjad, aged 6 years, suffers from congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss. After a year from her birth, when her parents noticed that she wasn't responding to sounds, they took her for a checkup where she was diagnosed with SNL and advised for a cochlear implant surgery. She was referred to National Hospital and her cochlear implant was installed in the right ear under the supervision of Dr. Naveed Aslam on 09.06.2021. However this was not the end of her procedure. She was to visit soon for the placement of the external component of the device. For this purpose she visited National Hospital again on 26.07.2021 where the external component of the device was placed. She was discharged the same day. She is now responding to sounds. Zainab will start taking her appointments with the speech therapist very soon.
