Donate to Umama Habib for Her Cochlear Implant
Umama Habib's Story
3-year-old Umama Habib is suffering from acute hearing loss. She experienced a high fever around 2 years ago which resulted in her ear nerves getting damaged. Her parents consulted an audiologist who advised the use of a hearing aid, which Umama used consistently for 5 months. Unfortunately, even with the help of a hearing device, Umama was unable to hear. Her parents took her to a private hospital in Islamabad where they were informed by a specialist that the damage has left Umama’s auditory nerves barely functional. He advised a cochlear implant as the best solution.
Umama lives with her parents and three siblings in a small house in Noshera. Her father works as a daily wager and earns 13,000-16,000 PKR/month. Since he cannot afford his daughter’s implant surgery, he has requested help from Transparent Hands.
“For those out there with resources, it might not be a lot but for me, this expense is beyond manageable. I earn a small daily wage and all of it is spent on taking care of my family and my house. The only way my daughter can have this operation is if people decide to help us.” – Umama’s father
