Tasleem Nawaz's Story

Tasleem Nawaz is a 57-year-old woman who has suffered for a long time because of the problem of renal stones. Five years back, she underwent Pyelolithotomy surgery of the right kidney for the removal of stones in it. However, that surgery did not provide a permanent solution and about two years back, she again started feeling pain in her lumbar area. On a complete checkup, the urologist diagnosed her with stones in both kidneys which impaired their function. The urologist placed DJ stents in both her ureters in order to improve the kidney function. Three months have passed since this procedure and she did get relief from her symptoms. But now, she has been further advised bilateral ureteroscopy and DJ stent replacement. Ureteroscopy is performed for examination of the upper region of urinary track whereas DJ stents need to be replaced in a few months time to avoid urological complications.

Tasleem Nawaz feels drained from all the medical procedures she has had to go through. She wants her hospital visits to end. But, the medical procedures that are advised now require a hefty amount of money. Her relatives are not ready to help her again. She is a mother of two sons. Her elder son is a driver and the younger one is mentally and physically incapacitated. Her husband looks after two buffaloes that belong to someone else and their monthly family income is only 15,000 PKR.

Tasleem Nawaz's Story

Tasleem Nawaz, 57 years old, suffered from pain in her lumbar area on both the sides and was diagnosed with stones in both kidneys. The doctors placed DJ stents in both her ureters to improve kidney function about three months ago. Later, bilateral ureterorenoscopy (URS) and DJ stent replacement was advised. For this purpose, she was admitted in Abid Hospital and her surgery was performed by Dr. Asif Hameed on 13.12.2020. She stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a stable condition. Tasleem is recovering slowly from her surgery.
