Sonia Bibi's Story

Sonia Bibi, 30 years old, is pregnant with her 4^th child. Due to some complications in labor progression, she needs to deliver her child via a C-section.

“Two out of my three previous deliveries were C-sections. I somehow managed to get appointments at government hospitals for those. This time, however, I haven’t been able to find a timely appointment at any hospital. I cannot go to private hospitals because they would charge more than we can earn in a whole year. Not having the surgery could put my child’s life in danger. 4 years ago, I lost one of my daughters and I will never be able to get over that loss. I cannot go through that again. I need to bring my child into the world safely, at all costs.” Sonia Bibi

Sonia Bibi and her husband had 2 daughters and 1 son. One of the daughters fell really ill and passed away in 2016, unfortunately. The family currently lives in a very small rented space. Sonia’s husband works as a laborer and earns 15,000 PKR a month. Out of this, 7000 PKR are spent on rent, leaving them with very little to support themselves. They have no property or valuables to their name.

The couple was unsuccessful at getting a free or subsidized procedure at local hospitals. When they heard about Transparent Hands, they registered their case.

Sonia Bibi's Story

Sonia Bibi, 30 years old, was on her 4th pregnancy. She was advised a C-section because her previous child birth was through surgery as well. Her C-section was done on 15-01-20, in Noor Medicare Hospital, by Dr Tahira Malik. She was happy to give birth to a baby boy. She stayed for two days in the hospital and was discharged in good health along with her healthy baby.
