Donate to Shazil Saleem for His Ileostomy Reversal Surgery
Shazil Saleem's Story
Shazil Saleem had an unfortunate road accident when he was a mere 8 years old. In the accident, he sustained blunt trauma to his abdomen. Shazil experienced abdominal pain, bloating and discomfort while moving and the doctors had to perform an emergency surgery. At the time of the surgery, he was found to have small intestine injury for which an ileostomy was done. An ileostomy is a surgical operation in which a damaged part is removed from the ileum and the cut ends diverted to an artificial opening in the abdominal wall for drainage of fecal contents.
After his surgery, Shazil’s parents were told that he would need to undergo an ileostomy reversal surgery to restore his bowel movements back to normal. They have been circling back and forth to different hospitals in search of affordable treatment but the cost of the surgery is way beyond their affordability.
Shazil’s father is a daily wage worker who earns PKR 18000 per month. His income is barely enough to run the household. With a family of 6 to feed, he is in no position to bear the medical expenses of his son’s surgery.
“I have always blamed myself for my son’s condition. If I had been more careful while driving the motorcycle that day, my son would not have been in this position today. I hope my son recovers soon. Transparent Hands is my only hope.” -Shazil Saleem’s father
