Shakeela Faryad's Story
26-years old and a resident of Lahore, Shakeela Faryad is 21 weeks pregnant. Mother of a child already, Shakeela belongs to an underprivileged family. The husband is a victim of poliovirus while the only income that finds its way into her house is via her mother-in-law. But that is also not a lot and hovers between 6000-7000 PKR/month. In these tough financial circumstances, Shakeela has been recommended by her doctor that she will need a LSCS for safe delivery, around the 38th week of pregnancy. A costly surgical procedure that has Shakeela worried all the time!
Lower segmentation Caesarean section or commonly dubbed as LSCS is the most common type of C-section. In this surgical procedure, an incision is made to minimize blood loss during birthing. A cut is made a little above the urinary bladder’s connection with the uterus. The location of this incision is the lower segment, hence the process is called lower segmentation C-section. The biggest benefit associated with this type of C-section is the quick recovery of the maternal tissues.
But Shakeela is a brave and optimistic mother, as the following words from her show that:
“I will admit that life is punching me and my unborn baby right now. But I am a mother. And like any other mother, I will not give up easily. I will try to fight for my baby until the very end. Shakeela Faryad's Story
Shakeela Faryad, 26 years old, was advised lower segment Caesarean section for the birth of her second child since she previously had one C-section. For this purpose, she was admitted in Noor Medicare Hospital and the procedure was performed by Dr. Shaista on 21.12.2020. Shakeela gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. She stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a stable condition. Shakeela and her baby boy, both are doing well.
