Shaheen Kauser's Story
“Every hospital so far has turned me away. I have been in pain for 3 long years and now, I cannot stand it much longer.”- Shaheen
48-year-old Shaheen Kauser has been suffering from pain in her right hypochondriac area along with abdominal distention, stretch, and vomiting for the last 3 years. In the last 4 months, her symptoms have worsened to the point that she can no longer actively move around. She visited her local hospital when matters became worse and she was diagnosed with cholelithiasis. For permanent relief, the doctors have advised cholecystectomy surgery to remove her gallbladder.
Shaheen has 4 daughters, 2 of whom are in college and the other two are still in school. She and her family live in a small house in Khanewal, lent to them by her parents-in-law. Her husband runs a small local shop of construction materials such as sand, and cement. He earns barely 10,000 PKR a month, which is insufficient to meet the daily needs of his family. Unable to afford her surgery, Shaheen visited several local hospitals in hopes of having the surgery at a reduced cost. She did not get a positive response from any hospital. Then recently, she visited a Transparent Hands medical camp, where her case was finally registered.
Shaheen now awaits your help to have her surgery. The sooner you help, the earlier her surgery can be conducted.
