Shagufta Mukhtar's Story
“We had a complete family and it felt like all our wishes had been fulfilled. I had a healthy son and two healthy daughters and we were happy. But this wasn’t God’s will; one of my daughters passed away due to meningitis shortly after she turned two. It was an extremely difficult time for us as a family and even now, we miss her every single day. I am pregnant again and we are all desperately praying for the healthy delivery of this child because we cannot bear to go through the pain of losing another child.” – Shagufta Mukhtar
Shagufta Mukhtar, 31 years old, is pregnant for the third time and has been recommended by the doctor to deliver her child through a C-section. A normal delivery, given Shagufta’s history, could prove life-threatening to her and her child. Unfortunately, she does not have the resources to pay for her operation and needs help funding it.
Shagufta’s husband sells sugarcane juice on the streets and barely makes 600 PKR/day, or 16,000 PKR/month on average. This meager income cannot accommodate the medical costs of her delivery at a good hospital which is why she has sought assistance from Transparent Hands.
If you feel Shagufta deserves your help, please don’t hesitate to send in your contributions today.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
