Sakeena Wali's Story
Sakeena Wali, a 29-year old woman from Lahore has something to share with you. Sakeena is pregnant and doctors have told her that delivery will be via LSCS. We will explain that in a bit. But for now, the real issue on hand is the financial status of Sakeena Wali’s family.
Sakeena Wali’s husband used to earn bread for the family by driving all day long. But then, as they say, life happened. The Covid-19 pandemic made him lose this job and the monthly income stooped down to 4,000 PKR/month. The husband doesn’t even have enough money to renew his driving license! And the mother of two is supposed to undergo LSCS, a costly procedure!
Lower segmentation Caesarean section or commonly dubbed as LSCS is the most common type of C-section. In this surgical procedure, an incision is made to minimize blood loss during birthing. A cut is made a little above the urinary bladder’s connection with the uterus. The location of this incision is the lower segment, hence the process is called lower segmentation C-section. The biggest benefit associated with this type of C-section is the quick recovery of the maternal tissues.
Nothing comforts Sakeena though:
“I have been advised and recommended a surgical procedure that is out of my range. Even in my wildest dreams, I couldn’t imagine that much money, all to be spent for my unborn baby! At times, I keep looking at the star-strewn sky and wonder if kindness and empathy will ever twinkle and shine on my life”
Well, this is where you come in. Sakeena seems to be sad which is understandable. But she hasn’t given up yet. She has sought help from Transparent Hands and the organization has responded to her call. But we cannot help Sakeena alone. We need your help. Think of that unborn baby and the smiles you can spread on Sakeena Wali’s face!
