Donate to Safdar Ali Shah for His Prosthetic Limb
Safdar Ali's Story
“A careless motorcyclist crashed into me and my leg never healed properly from the accident. At the age that children are supposed to be running around, I kept to myself because I couldn’t really walk without proper support. In fact, I have forgotten what it was like to walk unaided.” – Safdar Ali
At just the age of 12, Safdar Ali Shah, now 48, was involved in a terrible road accident on his way to school and sustained severe damage to his left leg. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and had emergency surgery to treat it. Over the course of almost 4 decades, this affected leg kept presenting with chronic infections and pain until February 2020, when it was finally amputated below the knee for the sake of his health.
Safdar recovered from the amputation surgery over a period of a month with regular medication to manage pain. After that, his doctor confirmed that he has recovered enough for the placement of a prosthetic limb. Safdar has approached Transparent Hands for this procedure since he cannot afford it on his own. He runs a small shop to support his family. His wife also works part-time as a seamstress and both earners bring home a total of just 12,000 PKR/month. Without your help, Safdar has no chance of raising resources for his artificial limb.
If you want to help Safdar walk again on both legs, please support him by donating for his surgery today.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Safdar Ali's Story
Safdar Ali Shah, 52 years old, had a road accident during his school years. One and a half year ago, his left leg also got injured really badly. He was taken to Mayo Hospital, where his leg was amputated, below the knee. His wound healed well, and he had been advised to get an artificial limb. He couldn’t afford to get a prosthetic leg which is why Transparent Hands helped him get one. His procedure was done by Dr Munir on 30-07-20 at Hope rehabilitation center in Lahore. His artificial leg was successfully fixed onto him. Present day, Safdar Ali Shah can walk and go get groceries for his family, just like any other male his age would.
