Sadia Amin's Story

Sadia Amin, 23 years old, was born with a clubfoot, a condition in which the foot is rotated inwards. Her condition has been neglected since birth. As a result, she has experienced mobility issues and knee pain all her life. In order to make her foot functional, she requires corrective orthopedic surgery known as soft tissue release.

Over the years, Sadia’s parents have consulted a few local healers but their treatments did not improve her situation. They could not take the surgery route due to financial hardships Sadia and her family have to face on the daily.

Sadia’s father and brother both work as daily wagers and collectively earn only 25,000 PKR/month to support a family of 7. Sadia’s father’s health also fluctuates often, as he is a patient of cardiac disease. Along with basic monthly necessities, his medication also consumes a big chunk of his salary.

“We get our wages and before nightfall, the money is out of our hands because of so many daily expenses. People judge me and my wife for being bad parents because we didn’t take Sadia for treatment while she was still young, but they forget that we are extremely poor and not many people in the world readily help folks like us.” – Sadia’s father

Sadia Amin's Story

Sadia Amin, 23 years old, was suffering from congenital deformity of her right foot. They took her to the hospital where she was treated with plaster casts, but she could not recover. Then she was advised to get a surgery to release the soft tissues of her right foot. Her family could not afford the surgery which is why Transparent Hands helped her with the surgery. It was performed by Dr Abdul Latif Shahid on 10-08-20 at Lahore Care Hospital. She had a smooth post-op recovery. She is doing much better now and has been advised for follow-up visits. Present day, Sadia can now walk properly, just like everyone around her.
