Qasim Zia's Story
“Because of my heart condition, I had to give up a well-paying job abroad. I was so sure I had finally reached a stage where I could secure my children’s future but I lost all of that because my health is too weak. I still go to work and try to bring a little something home but if I don’t take action for my heart condition soon, I could lose my life and my children would have nothing at all. That thought scares me and has prompted me to reach out for help.” – Qasim Zia
33-year-old Qasim Zia has been suffering from rheumatic heart disease for over a decade now. He started experiencing severe bouts of chest heaviness almost 13 years ago. When he was rushed to the hospital, his ECG was done which showed heart disease. He was recommended echocardiography for further investigation but since he couldn’t afford it then, he just relied on the medication the doctor gave him.
A few years after the start of symptoms, Qasim was posted in Saudi Arabia, working at a steel mill, when the chest pains started again. He was brought to Pakistan, admitted to a local hospital in Lahore, and was recommended cardiac surgery for the replacement of his aortic as well as pulmonary valves, but the hospital did not give Qasim an appointment for free surgery. Since then, he has been trying to find help with his surgery but has not had any luck so far. With only a salary of 15,000 PKR/month to support himself, his wife, and 2 daughters, he cannot afford to have it at a private hospital.
Qasim’s deserving case has been registered with Transparent Hands. He is now looking for your urgent support.
To help him, please donate as early as possible.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website.
