Nazia Bibi's Story

Nazia Bibi, 34 years-of-age, has been suffering from multiple fibroids – non-cancerous lumps in her uterus known to her recently. Nazia Bibi and her husband had been trying to conceive for years now. They tried multiple treatments including taking medication in the hopes of becoming pregnant. Unfortunately, she started experiencing symptoms like pelvic pressure, severe pain in her waist and legs, and frequent urination. She also started experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding that has led to weakness and anaemia.

After getting checked up by a gynaecologist, Nazia was diagnosed with multiple fibroids in her uterus and was advised to get a total abdominal hysterectomy. Since Nazia and her husband couldn’t afford the cost of the surgery, they opted to get a minor procedure done instead which had lower chances of curing her. The procedure was unsuccessful and now Nazia had to have an urgent surgery to get the multiple fibromas removed.

Recently, Nazia started feeling pain and discomfort again. She visited Dr Nuhzat Jahangir at Ahmad Medical Complex in Mardan where her ultrasound was conducted, and it was found out that a regrowth had occurred in her uterus. Like before, she was advised to get a total abdominal hysterectomy.

“I had constant bleeding, but I did not know what was wrong with me because I had a surgery done. My condition suddenly started to deteriorate. I can’t afford the operation, so I have been relying on medicines instead. But they don’t work and each day, I feel more and more weak.” – Nazia Bibi

Nazia is unable to afford the cost of surgery at a private hospital because she and her family don’t even earn the minimum wage. She herself does not work whereas her husband, who only earns around 12,000 PKR a month as a daily wager. He has a family of five to support including relatives and parents and lives in a house 5 marla house that was given to him by his father in law.

With only one earning hand, Nazia and her family of five don’t even have money for basic necessities right now. Your donations are her only hope for the surgery.
