Nargis Bibi's Story
“I am constantly distressed. It makes me worried for my health. I still have five children to look after” –Nargis Bibi.
Nargis Bibi, 54 years old, had abnormal uterine bleeding for the past two years. Multiple visits to local and private hospitals only got her prescriptions for temporary relief. For long term relief, she needed surgery- a hysterectomy. Her appointment, however, was stalled multiple times, until she was ready to give up hope.
Nargis Bibi is a housewife with 7 children, 5 of whom live with her and her husband in a small house in Kasur. Her husband works as a laborer in a factory. The whole household survives on his income of around 8000 PKR a month.
Nargis Bibi’s son had previously received treatment with the help of Transparent Hands. Following several disappointing visits to her local hospitals, she reached out to Transparent Hands for help.
