Munir Ahmad's Story

“That fateful day changed everything for the worse. I lost the ability to walk. Now, on a good day, the most I can do is walk to the bathroom myself. Otherwise, I can hardly move around. Worst of all, I lost my dear daughter in the accident. I couldn’t protect her and now, because of my condition, I can’t even protect my other children. I cannot earn for them, I cannot attend to their needs. All I wish is to be better soon.” – Munir Ahmad.

A year and a half ago, 45-year-old Munir Ahmad and his 2-year-old daughter were involved in a terrible road accident. His daughter, unfortunately, did not survive the accident. Munir survived but sustained severe damage to his right leg. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where his right leg was amputated above the knee. Munir was then referred to another hospital for leg rehabilitation. This hospital, however, demanded a lot of money for the prosthesis.

Before his accident, Munir worked as a laborer and earned a small salary to support his family of 9 members. After the accident, he has been unable to walk without a walker and has been out of work for a year and a half. His family is currently relying on relatives for financial support. Although he is not in physical pain anymore, Munir’s reduced mobility has taken a huge toll on him and his family. He has now contacted Transparent Hands hoping to receive help.
