Muhammad Hussain's Story

Muhammad Hussain, 19-months-old, was diagnosed with Midgut Volvulus after his birth. His emergency surgery was performed and an ileostomy stoma was made for temporary passage of stool. The doctors in a government hospital performed the first surgery on Hussain when he was only 5-days-old and advised stoma reversal surgery 3 months later. Since then, his family has visited multiple hospitals but no one has taken up their case because of financial constraints.

Hussain’s condition has worsened and has become an inconvenience not only for him but for his parents as well. His father is a labourer and earns only PKR 15,000 a month. They live in a joint family system and all the family members are dependent on his income. Consequently, he does not have the financial means to pay for his son’s surgery.

“My son has been going through this difficulty since his birth. It breaks my heart to see him in pain. I pray that the final surgery cures his condition completely”.- Hussain’s father.

Muhammad Hussain's Story

19 months old Muhammad Hussain’s laparotomy was performed for midgut volvulus when he was only seven days old. An ileostomy stoma was also made at the time. Later, his doctors advised an ileostomy reversal surgery for him. For this reason, he was admitted in Lahore Care Hospital and the surgery was performed by Dr. Sajid Iqbal Nayyer on 05.12.2020. Hussain stayed in the hospital for five days and was discharged in a stable condition. He is recovering well from his surgery.
