It breaks our heart the most when we hear about our senior citizens becoming a victim of some unfortunate accident or incident. The story of 63 years old Muhammad Farooq, who hails from Mandi Bahaowdin, is similar. On the 6^th of June 2020, Mr Farooq had a road accident, which fractured his left shaft of the humerus. Several tips and tricks were tried for ameliorating the condition, but with no real improvement whatsoever. There seems to be only one solution that can put an end to Mr Farooq’s miseries. And that is an ORIF surgery.

ORIF stands for open reduction and internal fixation. It is a surgical procedure that is used to fix bones broken in multiple pieces. Its effectiveness has been well established, and since Mr Farooq’s doctors have already recommended this procedure for his fractured humerus, we are sure that it will fix him up alright. However, the financial hindrance is too big to be jumped with a fractured humerus for Mr Farooq.

Muhammad Farooq's Story

Muhammad Farooq, 63 years old, suffered from a terrible traffic accident that injured his left arm. He consulted local quacks who managed him with plaster cast. This resulted in non-union and the fracture did not heal. After that, on proper medical consultation, the orthopedic surgeon recommended an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery along with bone grafting to repair his bone. Farooq was admitted in Maryam Memorial hospital and the surgery was performed by Dr. Rahman Rasool Akhtar on 21.10.2020. He stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a stable condition. His arm is healing rapidly.

“I am a salesman. My work demands that I stay active. Otherwise, we lose customers if our service is not up to the mark. In this regard, the surgery was a huge blessing for me as it has definitely improved the condition of my arm. I am able to move it freely now without feeling excruciating pain.
