Muhammad Ashiq's Story
Just two months ago, Muhammad Ashiq, 48 years old, started experiencing intermittent retention of urine along with lower abdominal pain. In just a few weeks, it got aggravated to total retention and he also started showing blood in the urine. He was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate (BPH). Temporarily, his urologist has attached a urine bag to him to make it easier to relieve himself but the permanent solution to his problem is TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate) surgery.
Muhammad Ashiq works as a daily wager and earns 12,000 PKR/month. He lives in a rented house with just his wife. Even though they are only two family members, they still have to live hand-to-mouth because 6000 PKR alone, out of Ashiq’s income, go towards rent and there is barely any money left for just their basic expenses.
“My wife and I don’t have anyone. It is just the two of us and we depend on each other for everything. We are both helpless right now. If any of you can find it in your heart to help me, I will be beyond grateful and will always remember you in my prayers.” – Muhammad Ashiq
Ashiq cannot afford to have this surgery on his own and has enlisted the help of Transparent Hands.
