Iffat Ul Nisa 's Story

Iffat, 32 years old, is pregnant with her third child. The doctors have advised her to deliver her child via a C-section to avoid complications that occurred during her previous deliveries. Iffat and her husband are worried because the operation comes with medical costs that they cannot afford. Iffat’s husband drives a Rickshaw for over 10 hours a day and brings home around 12,000 PKR per month. Out of this income, almost 5000 PKR are spent on renting a very small house. Despite all his hard work, Iffat’s husband’s salary is not sufficient to support the family and they often have to borrow money from neighbours to get through the month.

“My husband has started putting in extra hours with a third child on the way but still, his income isn’t sufficient to meet our expenses. Half of it is spent on our rent alone. If we stop paying rent, we will have no place to live. If we pay rent, we barely have any money left to eat. How are we to figure out how to pay the medical bills for this operation?” – Iffat

Iffat Ul Nisa 's Story

Iffat Ul Nisa, 32 years old, was about to have her 3rd childbirth. She had her surgeries done for previous childbirths. This time, she was advised elective surgery again. Her C-section was successfully done on 10-06-20 in Medicare Hospital, Rawalpindi, by Dr. Qurat ul Ain. She stayed for two days in the hospital and was discharged along with her healthy baby.
