Jamila Bibi's Story
“Working day and night with my disease has become really difficult for me. My work demands energy and strength that is getting to its minimum level day by day. After my husband’s death, I cannot just afford to stay at home for many days otherwise my family will starve.” – Jamila shared with Transparent Hands
56 years old Jamila is diagnosed with vaginal fistula. She was treated for ‘Total Abdominal Hysterectomy’ 4 years ago from a local hospital. Since her diagnosis, she has been experiencing difficulty in urination. Now, her symptoms are getting worse with each passing day making it hard for her to work and earn for her family.
She has one son and two daughters. Her husband died after 8 years of her marriage and since then, she along with her son, are the bread winners of the family. She works in a cow stable for a land lord. Her son works in a motorcycle repairing shop from where he earns 200 PKR per day. The total income rises to a sum of 9,000 PKR a month.
“Doctors recommends surgery without understanding my financial condition. I feel so hopeless whenever I visit doctors for my surgery with few pennies in my hand.” – Jamila added.
She was referred to Transparent Hands for free of cost surgical treatment. She discussed her medical history to the doctors and the reports clarified her need of an immediate surgery. For making her surgery a success, your help is required.
