Donate for Wafa’s Cochlear Implant
Wafa Abbas's Story
Wafa is a sweet little kid who was born without the ability to hear. His parents are worried, but they are also hopeful because they know that he will be able to hear with a cochlear implant. However, it’s a very expensive device and they won’t be able to obtain it for their son without your assistance. This device can change Wafa’s life and future. Please donate for Wafa’s cochlear implant surgery as much as you can.
Six-year-old Wafa Abbas, a resident of Sargodha, has been suffering from hearing loss since he was born. Until his first birthday, his parents were completely unaware of this. His parents took him to the nearest hospital when they discovered he wasn’t responding to his name and other sounds. The doctors diagnosed him with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended that he should get a cochlear implant. An electronic device is surgically installed during cochlear implant surgery. It helps the patient with developing a sense of hearing.
Wafa Abbas’s parents have some hope now because they know a cochlear implant surgery can help their son. However, they can’t pay for it due to financial constraints. They live in a small house and his father supports a family of eight members with a meager income. He earns just PKR 40,000 per month. There is no way for Wafa’s father to pay for the cochlear implant surgery.
Someone told them about Transparent Hands and they reached out to us. We are determined to help this little boy and his family. But we need your support to improve this innocent boy’s future.
“When the doctor informed us that our son has hearing loss, we couldn’t believe our ears. He had never heard our voices. I’m hoping someone will be able to assist us.” – Wafa’s father
Wafa’s parents are praying to find generous donors like you to give their son a better future. We urge you to donate for Wafa’s Cochlear Implant Surgery.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Wafa Abbas's Story
Six-year-old Wafa, a resident of Sargodha, has lived a life shrouded in silence due to sensorineural hearing loss since birth. Concerned for their beloved child, Wafa's parents sought medical intervention, leading them to a pivotal moment in their journey. The doctor's diagnosis was clear: Wafa required cochlear implant surgery to restore his hearing. However, this life-changing procedure comes at a hefty cost, making it nearly impossible for Wafa's family to afford.
Faced with this daunting reality, they turned to Transparent Hands, where the power of collective compassion became a lifeline. He was admitted to the National Hospital, Lahore, where Dr. Naveed Aslam performed his operation on 1-04-2023. The doctor fixed the internal component of the cochlear implant, and the operation was successful. He was discharged after one day in the hospital. However, the journey to full restoration of his hearing was not yet complete. After a few weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was fixed, paving the way for a world of sound for him.
