Donate for Sawera’s Colostomy Closure
Sawera Mustafa 's Story
Sawera is in distress due to the pain and discomfort. She needs to undergo surgery to get rid of the pain and return home with a bright smile. By making a donation, you can help her finally get the relief she needs from her pain and suffering. We ask you to donate for Sawera’s Colostomy Closure to give her a pain-free life.
Sawera Mustafa, a 5-year-old resident of Gujrat, had been suffering from repeated episodes of the swollen abdomen and abdominal cramps since birth. Her parents took her to the hospital in an emergency. After the diagnostic tests and evaluation, she was diagnosed with fecal peritonitis. This is a critical condition in which infection spreads to the whole abdominal cavity. Her colostomy was made at the time of surgery. Last year, the doctor also performed duhamel pull-through surgery to remove the diseased section of the intestine, and then the healthy part of her intestine was brought down to the anus. The doctor advised colostomy closure surgery afterward. It is a surgical procedure to reconnect the bowel so that feces can pass through the anus as usual.
She lives with her parents and two siblings in a house. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond the reach of her family. Her father works as a laborer in a factory and earns a meager salary of PKR 25,000 per month, barely enough to support their family of five. Her father said in a depressed tone:
“I cannot bear to see my little girl in pain and discomfort any longer. Please donate to Sawera’s surgery and help us bring back her beautiful smile.”
One of their relatives told them about Transparent Hands, and they contacted us to register the case and make Sawera’s colostomy closure surgery possible. Her health depends on this surgery. Your donation can make all the difference in her life. We are appealing to your kind hearts to donate for Sawera’s Colostomy Closure. Your generosity will change her life forever. Please come forward and donate to be a part of her healing journey.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Sawera Mustafa 's Story
Sawera Mustafa, a 5-year-old little girl from Gujrat, was suffering from severe abdominal pain. Her persisting health condition led her parents to consult a doctor, where she was diagnosed with fecal peritonitis. Fecal Peritonitis is a condition caused by colonic perforation. It leads to the release of fecal material into the peritoneal cavity. Following the doctor’s recommendation, she underwent an emergency procedure called Laparotomy and colostomy at a public hospital.
Afterwards, she needed colostomy reversal surgery, a procedure to close the colostomy which is performed after 2-3 months of the surgery. She needed support to undergo this procedure as her family was facing financial hardships. Due to her deteriorating health condition, Sawera struggled to concentrate on her studies and to play with other kids.
Her family’s financial constraints cast a shadow of uncertainty over her full recovery. Sawera’s father is the breadwinner of the family and works as a laborer. Affording the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for him. In their search for help, Sawera’s parents found Transparent Hands and contacted us.
We processed her case and the day of surgery arrived. On 26-03-2024, she was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital, and her surgery was performed by Dr. Sajid. Sawera was happily discharged after one day of hospitalization.
During her hospital stay, she received mandatory monitoring and care from the medical staff.
Sawera’s parents said with gratitude:
“It gives us immense pleasure to see our daughter’s successful recovery. Our happiness cannot be expressed adequately with words. We are extremely grateful to all the donors who contributed to Sawera’s surgery, enabling her to live a healthy life.”
Sawera’s life is filled with new hope and determination. Your donations have made a valuable impact on her life. She is now free from the limitations caused by her deteriorating health condition.
Your contributions have enabled Sawera to spend her life with determination. Moreover, she doesn’t need to struggle to survive each day. We extend our gratitude to all donors for their generosity.
