Donate for Maryam’s Debulking Operation
Maryam Bibi's Story
Before you dive into the gory details of Maryam’s disease, please know that only your help can get her through this ordeal. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Maryam’s debulking operation and help us relieve her of her pain.
Eight years old Maryam Siddique has been suffering from Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) in her left hand since birth. The condition started showing its signs with discolouration of her fingers, which has increased with time. She has also developed swelling of her left hand due to this condition. AVM is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels connecting arteries and veins that disrupts normal blood flow and oxygen circulation.
To treat this deformity, the doctor has advised Maryam to undergo a debulking operation. Debulking operation is usually used to treat and remove these dwellings as much as possible to get relief from bothersome symptoms.
While a debulking operation is the best option for permanent relief, it is certainly not an easily accessible procedure. Unfortunately, Maryam’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of a debulking operation. Maryam’s father is the sole earner of the family. He works as a vegetable vendor and hardly earns PKR 15000 per month. With rent and other expenses, he is in no position to set aside any amount for his daughter’s surgery. He told us:
“I took my daughter to a lot of local hospitals. All of them had the same answer to my questions. They asked me to come after the coronavirus pandemic is over. I thought that it is a matter of two to three days and it will be over soon. But it seems to have no end. Where do I go?”
After a lot of mental and physical distress, Maryam’s parents have requested Transparent Hands for help. Maryam’s sorry tale has reduced us to tears. We are determined to get her happy and healthy as soon as possible. Therefore, we urge you to please donate for Maryam’s debulking operation.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Maryam Bibi's Story
Maryam Siddique’s parents noticed that the color of her left hand’s fingers was changing when she was only a newborn baby. They ignored this observation. However, her hand was swollen and its size kept on increasing as Maryam grew older. She turned 8 years old recently. Her parents took her to the doctor for examination. On detailed examination, Maryam was diagnosed to have a venous malformation and the doctor advised surgery for its removal. For this purpose, she was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital and her debulking surgery for venous malformation was performed by Dr. Imran Shehzad on 31-03-2021. She stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a stable condition. Maryam’s hand has recovered since she has had the surgery.
