Maryam, a 24-year-old resident of Lahore, is pregnant with her eighth child. In her seventh month of pregnancy, she went to the local hospital for a checkup. Considering her current situation, the gynecologist has advised her to undergo a Lower Segment Cesarean section to deliver her baby. In this operation, a surgical incision (cut) is made in the lower segment of the uterus to deliver a baby. Sumaira and her baby would remain at risk without the C-Section.

She lives in a small house with her husband and two children. Her husband is the only earner and cannot afford to pay for the surgery and other medical expenses with his limited income. Maryam said in distress:
